Love and Truth: we need both in order to expand and thrive

Many say that all there is, is love. That there is either love or fear. If we are in fear we can’t be in love - and if we are in love, we can’t be in fear. And love is all that matters. In some ways that’s true, however I believe it’s only part of the story.

So, what is love? One way of looking at love is to look at our actions and the outcome of our actions – it’s love if it helps us and others thrive or grow or blossom or flourish. Think about that for a while. Think of instances of love that you have experienced in the context of this definition.

Another way to look at love is to look at the energy of love. The energy of love is everywhere. It’s our life force. We can’t earn it. It’s available to everyone on the planet, no matter who we are or what we’ve done. It’s simply that we block it. If we open to the energy of love, it’s what connects us all. It is the oneness of all things.

Love is associated with the heart. Whereas truth is associated with the mind. In some ways, truth is the other side of the coin to love.

What is truth? Truth is what’s real. It’s beyond the drama of our human lives, the illusion of this planet and beyond our conditioning and patterns. I like to look at truth as the divine, eternal and brilliant truth or reality of all things. Again, many of us have at one time or another, blocked ourselves to the truth of all things. Instead, we preferred to see, hear or know things through our conditioning and human ego.

Think about truth and think about instances of when you have known truth – that something was true, that it was an eternal truth above and beyond the human drama or event that you may have been experiencing.

Most of us find that we can connect more easily to either love or to truth. And sometimes that can change. It has for me. Some years ago I found it much easier to connect to love and had a hidden fear of the truth. I’ve worked on that fear for a long while and now have found that I have a stronger connection to the energy of truth than to the energy of love. That’s not a negative thing, as I haven’t lost my connection to love. I simply know it will again change and re-balance over time as I grow and expand.

Why is it important to have a strong connection to both love and truth? Well, balance is always important. If you only focus on love, it’s hard to sustain it. I love the analogy that only focusing on love, is like a bird with one wing. You fly around in circles and eventually burn out. Many people in the ‘caring’ industries are very focused on the energy of love and on giving, and eventually they burn out.

Whereas also maintaining a strong connection to the energy of truth balances that. It’s the yin and yang balance. Yin being love (or presence), yang being truth (or action). If we come from a place of love and compassion, and we express our truth with wisdom, then we help ourselves and others to grow and thrive. That’s a very positive thing for our planet. As it means that our actions and words if wise, will always have positive and constructive consequences, rather than negative and destructive consequences. That’s what wisdom is about. And I think we all need lots more of that on our planet.

Wishing you all joy and wisdom in your pursuit of love and truth.

Forgiveness – a process that strengthens and frees you

I’ve been meditating on forgiveness. I wanted to understand what forgiveness could mean for me, and how and why do it. I was surprised to find that as I meditated on forgiveness, fear came up, that I was scared to forgive. I discovered a hidden belief that I thought forgiveness would weaken me, that ‘they’ would ‘win’ – that if I forgave those who had wounded and hurt me, it was giving them permission to continue. As I meditated on this hidden belief that had now come to light, I discovered that no, that is not so. I began to understand that forgiveness would free me. That with forgiveness, my body and heart would have no place for old bitterness, fear or anger. Instead, I would be free and whole. That there would be space in my heart for more unconditional love – for myself and others.

It’s not the first time I’ve practiced forgiveness and unconditional love. But this time I needed to really get to the bottom of it. I’d recently had a few people say to me, Maret, it’s time to forgive. Initially I had no idea what they were talking about, but when I hear something 3 times I listen to it. The 1st time I can notice it and ignore it, the 2nd time it’s interesting, the 3rd time tells me that a pattern has emerged. So when I heard it for the 3rd time, I took notice and thought there must be something hidden deep that I now need to forgive. A friend suggested a daily spiritual practice. So that is how I started.

Each night I sat down, having created a small sacred space with candle, flowers, incense etc. Here is a brief overview of some of my practices: I welcomed in God/source and all beings of light that support my healing and expansion and I asked for help and guidance. I then did my best to open my heart to unconditional love (I have a few processes for that) and then saying ‘to the best of my ability today’ I forgive myself for everything I’ve done to myself and to others (intentional and unintentional) and I forgive myself for being human. I then focused on all those in all past, present, future times that have wounded, betrayed or hurt me in some way, kept me out of alignment with my true self – and to the best of my ability in that moment, I forgave them. I then flowed unconditional love and blessings to them all. I then asked for forgiveness from all those in all times and places, that I have wounded, hurt or betrayed. I also used my mala beads and said a mantra every night, for one round of the beads.

After some weeks, I was able to leave out the words ‘to the best of my ability today’, as I started to feel the power of unconditional love and forgiveness. I’m still doing a daily practice of forgiveness and unconditional love and feel wonderful for it. It takes me into a completely different space and feeling. I’ve modified my practice now and have adjusted it to what I feel is needed in the moment. I’ve also accepted that all I can do is control my own attitudes and actions, not theirs. I want to live my life fully. I don’t want that woundedness or unforgiveness to be playing any part in my life anymore. As always, I’m a work in progress. The practice continues and new insights come to me. This is the way that’s worked for me.

We each need to find out own way through forgiveness and unconditional love. I send blessings to you all.

Metaphysical listening, listen to everything around you

I always appreciate the wonderful things that science and medicine can do for me. However, I also appreciate and use complementary sources for healing. At the moment I’m focusing on healing a lack of hearing in my left ear. I’ve been told medically that nothing can be done to improve my hearing (I won’t go into the detail of why that is so). So I’ve decided to work on my hearing with an intuitive medical healer, to structurally and functionally heal my left ear.

One of the many things that I am doing is to retrain myself to start hearing again in that ear. I now understand that as a child, I didn’t want to hear what was going on around me. An easy way for me to do this was to go deaf, both physically and metaphysically. I did that in my left ear. I’m not at all suggesting this is the case for anyone else, just that this is the way it was for me. I acknowledge that there are many causes of deafness.

A current practice of mine is to start listening metaphysically, as I also shut that down as well as my physical hearing. So many things around us have messages or guidance for us. I love crystals and so am focusing on those. I sit each day holding a crystal and simply listening to it. Everything on this planet has some form of consciousness, whether they are sentient and non sentient beings. I have many crystals in my home and am now learning to listen to them. I’m learning that they are supporting me in the healing work that I do and also supporting me in finding my own happiness.

If you’d like to start listening more deeply to the consciousnesses of things, it might be helpful to choose things like trees, crystals, rocks, water etc – or you might want to tune more deeply into your guides and the masters on the other side. What you can do is be open to the lines of communication that they want to communicate with you on – rather than the lines of communication (frequency and amplitude) that you want to communicate on. Have an intention to be open to their line of communication, that everything is for your highest good and in the flow of divine truth, and sit in silence and stillness, then simply listen for a while and see what comes through.

I wish you fun, light-heartedness and joyful surprises in this practice.

Meditation 1st March and Food for Thought (Think positive ... but)

Shamaret meditation Mon 1st March 2021

I’m looking forward to our first evening of shamanic/awareness meditation for 2021. We focus initially on relaxing into a meditative space and then we journey into higher states of our own consciousness. Here we can seek new information, gain new insights or simply be aware and enjoy the experience. Often insights can come to us at a later date. It’s a beautiful space to be in.

Think positive rather than negative thoughts, yes … but

The energy on the planet (planetary energy not the human energy) has been changing for quite some time. And this affects us all. It’s calling us to become more authentic, more aligned to our soul, more of who we truly are. We can resist it or go with it. If we keep resisting it, we continue to experience more misery than we need to. This can involve us in unhelpful game playing, suppression, control and codependent relationships. However, there are many things we can do to assist ourselves in moving forward into greater happiness, well-being and alignment with the interdependent planetary energies.

One of the things we can do is to think more positively. The other day I was out for a walk and a  mother walked by with her young children and I heard her say to one of them:  “It would be better if you thought about positive things rather than those negative things”.  And I thought yes! and then I thought but ...

The reason I hesitate to support simply replacing negative thoughts with positive ones is that the negative thoughts don’t go away. They bubble away underneath and still bother you – even if you spend all your time cultivating positive thoughts. I’m not suggesting you drop the positive thoughts. However, if you find that underneath, you still have those negative thoughts it’s simply telling you that it’s not complete. It’s still unfinished business.  You can always feel unfinished business. For example, you may think of a friend who said something to you and you still feel upset about it days, months (or even years) later - or you think about speaking your truth and you feel a flush of hot shame spread over you (that one used to be a big one for me) - or you think of some of your childhood situations and you feel rage, anger, etc. Any time you don’t feel okay and think miserable thoughts, it’s telling you that there is something unfinished, or I like to call it ‘incomplete’.

So, the lesson is not to ignore it, but to get complete.  One of the ways to get complete (or finish with it) is to acknowledge it.  A fundamental practice always in life is to acknowledge and complete. That way, you gradually tone down or finish with the recurring old negative thoughts and patterns. What you can practice is:

a) stop and get in touch with what you are thinking;
b) then name it, literally acknowledge it eg ‘self-criticism’
c) unconditionally accept it – note that you need to feel the energy of acceptance and allow it to flow all the way through the thoughts that you are having. Many of my clients, in order to learn the energy of unconditional acceptance, think of something they unconditionally accept/love eg a kitten, a baby, a garden etc – and they let that energy enfold them. And you quietly stay in that energy of acceptance/love until you feel the unhelpful negative energy of your thought dissipate.

It works. I know, because I practiced it for some years until I got complete on many old and recurring negative thoughts that were unhelpful to me. I also needed to do other practices to get complete and I had a lot of support from therapists.  However, for me, acknowledgment and completion was a fundamental starting point. Because I practiced it so much, and also had a friend who used to remind me to do it, I now automatically do it whenever I’m not feeling okay.

I wish you grace and ease in getting complete on old thoughts that no longer serve you.  You will feel so much better for doing it.

Food for thought - new year's resolution or intention?

New year's resolution ... or new intention?

Sometimes I don’t understand manifestation at all - at other times it works like a charm. There are many ways to manifest and we need to find what works best for each of us individually. However, one thing that is always helpful is to be very clear on what our intention is, what we want to bring into our life. At the end of every year I always like to get clear on an intention for the next year.

I prefer intention to new year’s resolution. The choice is always yours of course, whether you go with resolution or/and intention. It appears to me that a new year resolution is about resolving something or making lists of what we want in our lives (much of which we often don’t achieve). On the other hand, an intention is about making a clear choice. And we need to make sure that our intentions are positive not negative because the universe brings to us what we focus on. I encourage you to meditate on an intention for 2021. Make sure it’s what you do want rather than what you don’t want eg that you ‘want more abundance in your life’ - rather than ‘I don’t want to be short of money anymore’. In the latter example the universe hears ‘short of money’ and gives you more of that. What you want the universe to hear is ‘more abundance’. I’m sure you get the idea. It can be helpful to have someone else check your intention, to make sure it’s phrased in the positive. It took me a while to get the hang of it.

To support your new intention, you can also do a cleansing and exchange ritual. This is similar to, but slightly different, to the ritual that I usually talk about ie. the cleansing and release ritual. I always like to do a ritual around this time of the year. Here is a link to the ritual of cleansing and exchange https://fractology.info/healing/ritual-cleansing-exchange/

I wish you all joy, delight, abundance, love, truth and wonderful new opportunities in 2021. May your lives be filled with vibrant health, well-being, expansion and clear positive intentions.
