Sometimes we just can’t see what’s right in front of our eyes

I had to really chuckle at myself. This is the background story. I love my milk frother. I use it every day to froth up milk for my chai tea. It has a small round disc that does the milk frothing. But ‘disaster’ struck when I left the disc on top of an appliance lid. Without looking the next day, I picked up the lid and the disc went flying. I searched everywhere – the bench top, the floor, under the table, under the fridge, even under the lounge on the other side of the room. I finally asked my son to help me pull out the freestanding stove as I was sure it had rolled under there. But no, not there.

The days went by and I missed my daily frothy milk chai. Then about a week later, I spilled some water down the side of the freestanding oven. As I put my hand in along the side of the oven to wipe the spilled water, suddenly the frothing disc flew out – it had magnetised to the side of the freestanding oven. It was there all along, in front of my eyes, stuck on the side of the oven and I couldn’t see it, even when I pulled the oven out to look underneath.

That’s why I chuckled, well, laughed at myself. I couldn’t see what was right in front of my eyes. It’s not the first time I’ve done that and probably won’t be the last. I don’t think I’m alone in this experience. It reminded me of how as I often go through life wondering about who I am, my purpose, what my gifts and skills are etc – and I think the answers are all there, staring me in the face and I just can’t see it … until something else happens that draws my attention away from my thoughts and towards the truth of these things.

For me, not seeing that milk frother sitting on the side of the over is such a metaphor for how we can miss seeing these things that are right under our noses. It’s as if we’re wearing blinkers that limit our view.

If you are trying to see something more clearly, it’s always helpful to set an intention for what you want to achieve. Have an intention if you are feeling blinkered, to take off those blinkers and see life more clearly.

I wish you lots of clarity and clear, truthful perception.

I hesitated, but have had a covid-19 vaccine and this is how I prepared

I resisted getting the Covid-19 vaccine for quite some time. I just felt so uncomfortable about putting that stuff into my body when it was all so new. However, after considering the research and many varied opinions including pros and cons, plus my desire to travel to places that require you having had the vaccine, I decided to go ahead. I had my first dose of the Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) vaccine in August. I resisted the pressure I was put under to have the second dose in 8 weeks and am waiting for the full 12 weeks before the 2nd dose.

What helped me get comfortable with having the vaccine was that I went to my energy healing teacher before I had the vaccine, and asked her to help my body prepare for the vaccine. And after I had the vaccine, I then went to her again, for a positive alignment of the vaccine within my body. After I had that done, I was amazed that when I tuned into my body, she felt stronger after that alignment.

I’ve now learnt to do the vaccine alignment for others. I like to do the session in 2 parts. The 1st part is done before the jab, where I tune up the body in preparation for the vaccine. The 2nd part is after the jab, where I align the vaccine to the body - it’s preferable (though not essential) to get this done on the same day as the jab, as sleeping on it might settle it into your system out of alignment. I’ve been very pleased with the positive responses I’ve received from clients. Sessions are currently online (zoom) because of lockdown; or for those who don’t want to do zoom, I simply tune into them at a set time and do the work. The alignment is beneficial for both jabs.

Having the Covid-19 vaccine is a very personal choice and I have no desire to sway you one way or the other. However, when/if you do have the vaccine, you can do a couple of things to help your body along the way. For example, talk to your body before you have the vaccine and let your body know why you are doing it and what you want the benefits to be. In addition, you can always, affirm the positive (not the negative about not getting sick), such as: ‘this vaccine supports my vibrant health’ or ‘this vaccine creates a stronger body’ or ‘this vaccine supports my joyful life’ etc.

The energy on the planet keeps building up and a lot of us are feeling the pressure, and also seeing it ‘explode’ in many ways on the planet. I wish you lots of grace, ease, hope and light-heartedness during these times.

Inspiration comes in surprising ways – recently from a plant in my garden

I’ve been amazed at what plants are now teaching me. They seem to resemble my own path of growth and expansion. One of them, a rock orchid that is hanging on the back wall of my current garden, has started to bloom. Previously, it was in a different position and struggled to flower. In its current position, it’s now lavishly expanding and displaying beautiful flowers.

Watching this rock orchid thrive in its new location, is teaching me a number of things:

- when you live in an environment that is just right for you, you thrive – in the way that this rock orchid is thriving in a position that meet its needs

- you discard with ease, old patterns, habits, behaviours that you no longer need – in the way that the rock orchid is discarding old brown leaves that it no longer needs

- you wear your knocks and personal issues with grace and ease, and those ‘scars of life’ don’t stop you thriving – in the way that the rock orchid has scars on its strong leaves, but it’s still thriving

- you find new ways to expand, be authentic and shine your light – in the way that this rock orchid has so many new and emerging flowers.

I just love the teaching from this plant and it gives me so much heart to continue on in my own journey, to keep discarding what doesn’t serve me and to find new ways to thrive - as this rock orchid has done in its current location.

Wishing you all growth and expansion with grace and ease, in a way that nourishes your own heart and soul.

Vulnerability – is not a sign of weakness

I’ve always been a bit perplexed about what vulnerability really means. When I think about it, I could say that I’m allowing myself to be vulnerable when I can admit that I don’t know (especially if someone expects me to know), that I have made a mistake (especially if it results in another’s upset or anger), that I can’t cope at the moment (especially when people are used to me coping), or to speak my truth (especially if it means someone will no longer like me).

But is this what vulnerability’s about? I’d like to explore it a bit more and get clearer on what it means to me.

So, how do people who have researched vulnerability, define it? I often come across Brene Brown when I do an online search about vulnerability. She says “Vulnerability is not weakness. I define vulnerability as emotional risk, exposure, uncertainty. It fuels our daily lives. And I've come to the belief -- this is my 12th year doing this research -- that vulnerability is our most accurate measurement of courage -- to be vulnerable, to let ourselves be seen, to be honest”. (https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_listening_to_shame/transcript)

I really like that bit about letting ourselves be seen and being honest. I think I can say that I am letting myself be seen and be honest, in the first para (above). But following on from what Brene Brown says, it’s about always being honest, always letting ourselves be truly seen. I’m not sure that I always do that.

What could be the opposite of vulnerability? For me it’s about never admitting you’re wrong, by suppressing emotions, by always projecting a successful, in-charge persona, by holding tight to your world view and disregarding anything that challenges it, or simply by conforming and always doing the ‘right’ thing, following society’s standards and not your own when it conflicts with your authenticity.

I would think vulnerability allows us to become more receptive, empathic and have more humour and light-heartedness in our lives. We’re prepared to be more open to differences. I love the description I once read in a book written by Dom Bede Griffiths, that one of the most important things we can do is find “unity beyond differences”. And I think vulnerability very much allows us to do that. It’s very much what the world needs now.

Intuition – what it is and how to trust it (YouTube interview)

There are many descriptions of intuition. Yet it’s a very personal experience and we each have our own unique way of connecting to our intuition. For me I either feel it in my gut, or a thought pops into my mind and I know it’s my intuition because I haven’t been ‘thinking’ about it, that the thought seems to appear out of nowhere.

It’s taken me quite a while to start to trust my intuition. Many years ago, a thought would pop into my mind and I’d ignore it. It could be as simple as ‘take your umbrella” or ‘best not to go’ etc. And with hindsight, every single time that thought proved true. It did rain, or I had a miserable time when I went to the event or I got lost on the way etc. So eventually, I set an intention to start listening and to act on those small intuitive thoughts, and the more I did that for the little things, the more I started to get ‘bigger’ intuitive thoughts come through.

Where does out intuition come from? Again, there are many views about this. I believe my intuition comes from my higher self or soul. In addition, we can also be open to guidance from the spirit world, but that’s for another time.

Two years ago, Catherine Wilkins (my Fractology teacher) and I were invited to do an informal interview about intuition - with Petra Williams, as part of her You Tube series called “The Red Hot Truth”. It was a fun conversation. Catherine defined intuition as that “part of our meta-system that is our inner friend”. Loved that definition. And when asked about intuitive intelligence, she responded with “when you get those intuitive impulses, it’s about knowing how to interpret them”. I got involved in a discussion about the importance of intuition in business and we veered into topics like the difference between self esteem and self confidence, and the importance of personal growth and how that can be so uncomfortable. We also discussed the connection between out intuition (right brain) and our logic (left brain); and how to increase our connection to our true self through a connection to our soul seat (or soul memory).

Irrespective of what we discussed, I feel that the most important message is that we need to act on our intuition in a way that best serves and aligns to our own true or authentic higher self (& not according to what others think we should do).
